oh goodness, letting a nerd know you’ve never seen a super popular movie franchise is like insulting their mother

My reaction exactly when people say they’ve never seen it!… then I drag them to my house, throw in my unedited VHS versions 🙂 and tie them to the couch for A New Hope.

I haven’t, either, so I’m with the detective here. The detective who also happens to have the same name as mine, too.

Witch! (I would link to the comic that inspired this remark on EGS, but I can’t find it)

This is where I just realized the logo over her chest wasn’t just a red band, but lips. @-@

No one ever notices. i thought it was obvious, but I guess not? I might do a costume revision at some point.

I didn’t figure that out until I saw the full Instagram selfie from The Crabs story.

I’m a big nerd and geek, love reading sci-fi and fantasy, but I’m more a Trekkie than a . . . Warssie? I’ve seen all the sequals, but I didn’t see any of the original trilogy until a couple days before going to see The Force Awakens in theaters.

I’m still stuck on the fact she said “a star wars”
That’s been a growing pet peeve recently

That’s okay, Nina. I recently learned that a new ‘net friend of mine doesn’t like Elvis Presley music. That came as a surprise!

And is she not the older of the two? She should be in the right age range.

Here’s a thing: Media has expanded exponentially year by year since the invention of the moving pictures. There now more movies, shows, music, and video games than any human could possibly keep up with, even if they lived off a trust fund and spent all their waking hours in front of a screen; it’s simply not possible anymore.

They’re both too young to have seen (or at least comprehended) the first 3 Star Wars films, in theatres, at their original release. Frankly, so was I (though I’m a bit older than them) However, with as big a deal as SW became, AND the half-dozen or so films that have come after and kept the franchise in the public mind, I would think most parents who enjoyed the original films would have gotten their kids to watch them (possibly after taking them to the prequel trilogy in theatres, if they thought they would make more sense in sequence).
It really is bizarre for someone around 30, to not have seen ANY SW film at this point. Younger teenagers, bombarded with more new movies, shows and games coming out than they have hours in the day to see? Them I might forgive.

I honestly used to thank so too, but now I’ve met a LOT of people, even people in their 30s and 40s, even people who are fans of other nerd stuff, who have just never seen any Star Wars and really don’t know anything about it at all, to the point where they can’t even name iconic characters, outside of maybe Luke, Darth Vadar and R2D2.

I wouldn’t have believed that, but I guess its true. Since I published this comic I’ve had a LOT of people tell me that they’ve never seen Star wars, or their Husband or girl friend or kid had never seen it.
