Ill keep reading Jake. Hatred needs to be confronted in all forums. Differences need to be celebrated. People need to open their minds.
Thanks Bill.
I personally appreciate the comic much more for its willingness to address real world issues. Superhero comics have always been political, if you look back to their roots. They’re meant to inspire people.
Yes! A long, proud history of political commentary. Often weird, uninformed commentary, but still!
Longtime reader, first time poster. Please do not let the negative responses you’ve received deter you. I think the story you are telling now is powerful and important, and you need to keep going. I am very worried for Admin.
Thanks. I appreciate that.
Illinois Nazis. Adventure man hates Illinois Nazis.
Whoah, after posting this comment I just realized what happened in the last panel. I thought it was a wind super power or something. That makes my last statement a _lot_ harsher than I intended it to be!
I think I should have maybe stuck an extra panel in there so it was more clear that a car was plowing through the crowd. I wanted it to be very sudden, but an extra panel might have helped for clarity.
No worries, Jake. It was easily read and I got the reference immediately. Initially I opened on the last page without the build up and still could tell what was happening in context. GREAT storytelling friend. Do what you do and let the contrarians waste their breath.
Given that in real life that incident would be sudden, panicky and confusing*, i think you caught that moment perfectly. Many victims of that attack didnt immediately know what hit them, neither would we.
(* and sadly of course it _did_ happen in real life)
Thanks. The one photo I based this panel on, the guy rolling over the top of the car has such a clear completely surprised look on his face that I doubt he even knew what had happened.
Love the comic. Ignore the haters.
As someone who lives about 45 minutes from Charlottesville, I’m interested in seeing where this is going. I remember driving there a day or two after the attack. It was like an eerie ghost town. I don’t know if it was the lack of people I saw outside or the fact that such a tragedy happened so close to home. I have to wonder if they are going to block off anymore cross streets in the Downtown Mall.
As much as I’ve read about it I can’t imagine what the town was like that weekend and the weeks after. We’ve had some disturbing demonstrations here in Portland, but nothing like that, and I’m not sure what the aftermath looks like. I wanted to do something that was like what happened there, but of course I can’t be accurate at all. Its just not possible. I’m drawing a lot here on my personal experiences at protests and getting hit (Accidentally!) by cars, I’m trying to focus more on raw feeling since accuracy is impossible.
So…Nazis aren’t from Earth? And the Prince of Yeld is from Adventure Man’s world?
It’s all more complicated than that. Wherever Adventure Man is from they also had Nazi’s. We’ll get to it eventually.
I’m assuming it’s an alternate earth or some such. And his highness’ official title is The Cod-Piece Prince.
