That cop has the worst reaction time ever. She can’t get the drop on a guy while holding a gun at point blank range at the back of his head?
She did get the drop on him, but that doesn’t mean that she was ready to shoot him, or that she was really prepared to respond to a flamethrower.
Isn’t that a little…odd…if supers are a known quantity in the city and there are files on who the villains are and what they can do? Do the police not have access to the files or something? Also, why is a detective being sent to an active crime scene as backup instead of a uniform? And why did she not expect a henchman of a villain named ‘Volcana’, who is visibly wearing a tank of some sort on his back that she should be able to see since she is behind him, to have a flamethrower?
My questions might seem overly critical, but I’m just trying to understand the situation, because right now I can’t suspend my disbelief that a police detective (who probably shouldn’t even be there) would be that unprepared.
Nina is specifically there as a partner for Ghost Kiss. She’s her driver and police liaison during this active super villain threat.
Nina was probably completely aware that the henchman had a flamethrower. He may have turned and fired faster than she anticipated, or she may just not have been willing or able to shoot to kill in that moment.
